Kiwanis Support Local Emergency Shelter
The Kiwanis Club of Amador
County recently purchased school supplies for the Amador
Emergency Shelter to provide the children with the necessary items to start
school.
The Amador-Tuolumne Community Action Agency (A-TCAA) has operated the
Amador Emergency Shelter since 1994; prior to that the shelter was run by
Operation Care. The shelter program mission is to provide safe housing,
nourishing food and support for families in transition. Families who need
emergency, temporary shelter are referred to A-TCAA by other agencies or by a
phone call to the Operation Care Help Line, 223-2600. All applicants for
shelter are screened over the telephone before coming to the shelter.
The Kiwanis Club of Amador County
will continue to supply school supplies to the Jackson Emergency Shelter in
support of Kiwanis programs involving the children of Amador County. The Kiwanis
Club meets the First and Third Wednesday at 7:00 a.m. at Mel's Diner in Jackson.
